Microsoft's (MSFT) Jay Parikh, who oversees the division that houses GitHub, warned that the unit faces a critical threat as it has struggled to respond to new AI coding competitors and has seen its lead in the space vanish, The Information reported Monday.

GitHub has also suffered from major outages that have angered big customers, the report said.

Microsoft didn't immediately reply to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
