Market Chatter: Amazon Sued Over Tariff-Related Price Increases After Supreme Court Ruling

MT Newswires Live05-18 17:02

Amazon.com (AMZN) was sued by consumers seeking refunds for higher prices tied to tariffs later ruled unlawful by the US Supreme Court, Reuters reported late Friday.

The report said the lawsuit claims Amazon has not sought government refunds for the tariff payments and instead allowed the government to keep the funds to maintain favorable relations with Trump.

Consumers accused Amazon of unjust enrichment and violating Washington state consumer protection law.

Amazon did not respond to a request for comment.
