Meta Platforms (META) Meta has told thousands of employees worldwide that they are being fired as part of a previously announced restructuring to reduce costs and invest in AI, Bloomberg reported Wednesday, citing internal memos.

The company's employees in Singapore received notices early in the morning, with US and European staff expected to be notified later in the day, the report said.

According to Bloomberg, employees are being asked to work remotely while the company slashes 8,000 jobs out of a workforce of roughly 80,000.

The cuts are expected to focus on Meta's engineering and product teams with more layoffs expected later this year, the report said.

Meta did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comment.
