ECARX (ECX) said Tuesday that it signed a strategic agreement with May Mobility to supply autonomous driving technology and vehicle systems for the US robotaxi company's future ride-hailing fleet.
ECARX said it is expected to provide customized central computing platforms and full sensor suites, including lidar, radar and cameras, for thousands of autonomy-enabled vehicles beginning with an initial deployment targeted for next year. Commercial scale-up is planned for 2028.
The partnership is aimed at lowering the overall cost of autonomous vehicles by at least 50% by 2028, while helping May Mobility expand its driverless ride-hailing operations in the US and Japan, ECARX added.
ECARX said the project could generate about $750 million over its duration.
