Drink Makers Seen Buying More Aluminum Cans -- Market Talk

Dow Jones02:49

1449 ET - Aluminum cans are in high demand among beverage companies, JPMorgan analysts say, upgrading can makers Ball and Crown to overweight. Aluminum cans appear to be the preferred packaging medium among energy drink sellers, the analysts say. Also, the supply and demand balance for beverage cans has tightened recently due to major producers rationalizing their operations, the analysts say. They think Ball's earnings per share will increase 12% this fiscal year, while Crown's will advance 3% after a 25% jump last year. "We think conservative investors may be able to capture about 10% capital appreciation in both companies over the coming months," they say. (katherine.hamilton@wsj.com)
