Nouveau Monde Graphite (NMG) began construction at its Matawinie mine project in Quebec, the company said late Tuesday.
Construction and commissioning is expected to complete in about 31 months, with full commercial production targeted at the end of 2028, Nouveau Monde Graphite said.
The project is expected to produce 106,000 tonnes of graphite per annum with over 70% of expected production covered by commercial agreements, it said.
The company also said it plans to make a final investment decision in H2 for its proposed battery material plant in Becancour.
Shares of the company were up 8% in Wednesday premarket trading.
