China Shenhua Energy's Coal Sales Flat in April, Output Falls

China Shenhua Energy's (SHA:601088, HKG:1088) coal sales increased 0.2% to 51.1 million tons in April from 51 million tons in the year-ago period, according to a Tuesday filing with the Hong Kong bourse.

Commercial coal production slipped 2.9% to 40.6 million tons from 41.8 million tons in the prior-year period.

Power output increased 15% to 20.8 billion kilowatt-hours from 18.2 billion kilowatt-hours, while gross power generation also climbed 15% year over year to 22.2 billion kilowatt-hours from 19.4 billion kilowatt-hours.

For the four months ended April 30, coal sales jumped 1.3% to 199.2 million tons year over year, while production slipped 4% to 165.5 million tons.
