Cruise Lines Aren't Cutting Prices Broadly -- Market Talk

Dow Jones02:38

1437 ET - The promotional environment is normal across the cruise industry, UBS analysts say in a research note, citing a recent catch-up with one of the largest U.S. cruise sellers. Cruise lines are tactically offering promotions, not needing to resort to broad promotional activity to spur demand. The exception, the analysts say, is Norwegian Cruise Line, which said earlier this month that internal missteps and external pressures are hurting the business. Looking ahead to the remainder of the year, pricing has been largely flat across the industry despite the recent run up in fuel costs. (connor.hart@wsj.com)
