Delta CEO Welcomes Berkshire Back as Investor -- Market Talk

Dow Jones05-19

1710 ET - Delta Air Lines Chief Executive Ed Bastian sees Berkshire Hathaway's reinvestment in the carrier as an item he can tick off of his checklist. Berkshire was Delta's largest investor when the Covid-19 pandemic started, but Warren Buffet chose to pull out of airlines then when "he realized it was going to be very complicated," Bastian tells CNBC. "He didn't want to be a stumbling block in terms of us getting any kind of assistance in any form," he says. Bastian then made it part of his mission to get to the other side of the Covid crisis for air travel and "see if there was a way that they would return," he says. (dean.seal@wsj.com)
