Danske Adjusts Fed Call, Expects Rate Hikes in December, March -- Market Talk

Dow Jones13:28

0528 GMT - Danske Bank adjusts its Federal Reserve call, now expecting the next policy changes to be 25-basis-point interest-rate increases in December 2026 and March 2027, senior analyst Antti Ilvonen says in a note. Previously, Danske expected the Fed to cut rates down to 3.00%-3.25%, the analyst says. The change in forecast is based on a stronger-than-expected improvement in the U.S. nominal growth outlook. "Importantly, the shift has not been driven by just the war in Iran and instead we think that demand factors are fuelling more structural inflation." Meanwhile, downside risks to labor markets have eased, artificial-intelligence-driven investment demand continues to fuel both real growth and inflation, and fiscal policy is slipping toward expansionary direction, Ilvonen says.
