International Business Machines stock was rising again on Friday as the quantum computing rally rolled on.
Shares climbed 2.6% to $259.50 in premarket trading, having surged 12% the previous session to help propel the Dow Jones Industrial Average to its first record close since February.
Pure-play quantum stocks were also set to open higher. D-Wave Quantum added 1.7%, Infleqtion jumped 8%, and Rigetti Computing gained 2.8% in premarket trading Friday.
IBM said on Thursday that it would create a new, stand-alone quantum foundry called Anderon. IBM and the Commerce Department each will contribute $1 billion of cash into the project.
The Commerce Department is also set to award funds to several other quantum-computing companies, including D-Wave, Infleqtion, and Rigetti.
