Welltower (WELL) has offered to sell several care home properties and transfer operations of certain sites to new operators to address UK antitrust concerns tied to its acquisition of more than 600 care homes, UK's Competition and Markets Authority said Thursday.
The regulator said the deal could reduce competition in 30 local areas across England and Scotland, potentially leading to higher prices or lower service quality for elderly care residents.
To address the concerns, Welltower has offered to sell several care home properties and reallocate operations of certain sites to new operators, the regulator said.
The CMA said it believes the proposed remedies could resolve its competition concerns and plans to consult on the package and potential buyers before making a final decision.
