SoftBank Group's company SB Energy plans to confidentially submit a draft registration statement to the Securities and Exchange Commission for a proposed initial public offering.

The offering and its timing are subject to market conditions, other considerations and the completion of Securities and Exchange Commission's review process, the digital infrastructure and energy company said Wednesday.

In January, SoftBank Group and OpenAI said they would invest $500 million each in SB Energy as part of Stargate, an effort by companies in the U.S. to build an overarching AI infrastructure platform. OpenAI also selected SB Energy to build and operate its previously-announced data center site in Milam County, Texas.
