Dollar Rises as Fed Minutes Fuel Rate-Rise Bets -- Market Talk

Dow Jones05-21 14:45

0645 GMT - The dollar rises, supported by expectations that the Federal Reserve could raise interest rates. The minutes of the Fed's latest meeting, released Wednesday, showed most policymakers would support raising rates if inflation stayed persistently above the 2% target. The market prices a 70% chance of a 25 basis-point rate rise by December and fully prices a move by March 2027, LSEG data show. Meanwhile, President Trump said Wednesday that negotiations with Iran are in the "final stages" but the U.S. will have to get "a little bit nasty" if no deal is reached. The DXY dollar index rises 0.1% to 99.182. (renae.dyer@wsj.com)
