AI Satellite Project Won't Be Easy, SpaceX Says -- WSJ

The company is looking to start deploying an enormous AI-satellite constellation as early as 2028, SpaceX said in the IPO prospectus, but building it out promises to be a tough endeavor.

"Orbital AI compute is an incredibly difficult technical challenge," SpaceX said in its IPO prospectus. "We believe we are the only company with a commercially viable path to building orbital AI compute at scale."

To do so in an economically compelling manner, SpaceX said it would need to achieve its tough objectives with its Starship rocket. Creating the network in space is part of why the company is expected to fetch a massive valuation.
