Nintendo (TYO:7974) has asked suppliers to produce roughly 20 million Switch 2 units by the end of March 2027, exceeding its publicly issued sales forecast for the period by about 20%, Bloomberg News reported Friday.
While this production target remains subject to change based on actual demand, the current schedule reflects the company's confidence in its upcoming game lineup to drive strong sales, the news wire said.
Nintendo is known for issuing cautious projections at the start of the fiscal year and later exceeding them-a typical approach among Japanese firms, the publication said.
For instance, last year the company initially forecast 15 million Switch 2 sales but ultimately reached nearly 20 million, while this year it has publicly projected 16.5 million units, the report said.
Nintendo did not reply to MTNewswire's query at press time.
