Shares of Endava dropped after the company reported lower fiscal third-quarter revenue and swung to a quarterly loss.

The stock fell 21% to $3.15 in premarket trading.

"This has been one of the more challenging periods Endava has faced in recent years," said Chief Executive John Cotterell. "Demand remains uneven across sectors, deal cycles continue to be extended, and clients are scrutinizing technology spending more carefully than at any point since the macro slowdown began."

The company swung to a loss of GBP7.55 (US$10.14) a share from a profit of GBP0.18 a share the year before.

Adjusted earnings were GBP0.05 a share. Analysts polled by FactSet had expected GBP0.20 a share.

Revenue fell 8.4% to GBP178.5 million. Wall Street had expected GBP183.7 million.

Endava guided for fiscal year revenue of GBP721.8 million to GBP725.8 million and adjusted earnings of GBP0.45 to GBP0.49 a share. Analysts expect fiscal-year revenue of GBP739.7 million and adjusted earnings of GBP0.82 a share.
