Bombardier won a contract to supply three of its Global 6500 aircraft to support the Australian Border Force's maritime surveillance capabilities.

The aircraft will be operated by Metrea, the originator and leading provider of effects-as-a-service to national security partners.

The deal expands Bombardier's defense footprint in Australia and supports the country's need for long-range, high-endurance surveillance aircraft, it said on Tuesday.

The contract comes as defense spending has been rising globally in recent years, driving a surge in demand for surveillance, reconnaissance and other specialized aircraft. Companies like Bombardier are increasingly winning contracts as governments expand and modernize their fleets.
