Ingredion's Tate & Lyle Offer Gives Certainty at Expense of Value -- Market Talk

Dow Jones05-27

0811 GMT - Ingredion's proposed offer for Tate & Lyle gives shareholders certainty, but this comes at the cost of value, analysts at Berenberg say in a note. Even though it seems like an attractive offer optically, it still represents a material discount to comparable transactions, they add. However, despite this, there are emerging risks to the British ingredient company's volumes, due to heightened inflation from a super El Nino and customer affordability, they add. Shares are up 0.52% at 502 pence. (aimee.look@wsj.com)
