Canadian miner Silvercorp Metals has filed an application with Hong Kong's stock exchange as it seeks a rare triple-primary listing in the financial hub.

The Vancouver-based company aims to list its shares on the main board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, it said in a Tuesday statement.

Silvercorp, which trades in Toronto and New York, focuses on silver but also produces gold, lead and zinc. It sells metal concentrates from its mines in China and operates three ore-processing plants there.

The company said there is no assurance that the Hong Kong offering and listing will proceed. If successful, Silvercorp would become one of only about a dozen non-Chinese or non-local companies to tap the city's fundraising market in recent years.

Hong Kong reclaimed its position as the world's top venue for initial public offerings in 2025, hosting 119 new listings that raised nearly US$37 billion, according to Hong Kong Exchanges & Clearing.

Of that total, only US$5 billion came from primary listings by international companies, HKEX said, citing Dealogic data.

Still, the exchange operator said this marked Hong Kong's strongest year for international listings since 2020. Companies from the U.S., Thailand, Kazakhstan and Singapore were among those that listed in the city.

International companies are attracted to the liquidity of Hong Kong's markets, the exchange operator said, noting that average daily turnover in the cash market more than doubled last year from 2023 levels.

Several high-profile companies listed in major markets such as the U.S. and U.K., including lender HSBC and electric-vehicle maker NIO, also have listings in Hong Kong.

Companies typically pursue listings in multiple markets to access broader pools of capital, improve share liquidity and enable trading across different time zones.

Citic Securities is set to be the sole sponsor of Silvercorp's offering, filings showed.
