Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CP) received a strike notice from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Canadian Signals and Communications System Council No. 11, which represents about 300 employees, the company said late Wednesday.
The union plans to begin a strike Sunday, if an agreement is not reached, according to the company.
Canadian Pacific said it has contingency plans in place to maintain rail operations and customer service if a work stoppage occurs, while negotiations with the union continue into the weekend.
"During this negotiation, we have made fair and balanced proposals with wage and benefit increases consistent with collective agreements currently in place with all our other unions across Canada," the company said.
