A group of more than 30 former federal judges asked a US judge in Florida to investigate whether the Trump administration's $1.8 billion settlement resolving President Donald Trump's lawsuit against the Internal Revenue Service amounted to "a fraud on the court," Bloomberg reported.
The former judges urged US District Judge Kathleen Williams to reopen the case, arguing the agreement, including a proposed "anti-weaponization" fund and a provision barring the IRS from continuing probes into Trump's past tax returns, was never presented to the court before the lawsuit was dismissed.
The filing said the settlement raised "profound questions" about candor toward the court and possible manipulation of the judicial system, according to Bloomberg.
