Elbit Systems (ESLT) has won a contract worth around $1.4 billion from an unnamed European customer for extensive military modernization over a period of five years, the company said Tuesday.

The modernization will focus on "maneuverability and survivability," the company said, including uncrewed autonomous technologies, electronic warfare, precision-guided munitions, and targeting and reconnaissance systems networked by software-defined radios, the company said.

Shares of the Israeli defense contractor were up 8.6% in recent premarket trading.
