MT Newswires Live05-29

An attack at Zijin Gold International's (HKG:2259) Buriticá mine in Colombia killed one miner and injured another, El Colombiano reported Thursday.

The Chinese miner attributed the attack to illegal miners operating clandestine tunnels in the area, the newspaper said.

Forces from Colombian paramilitary group Clan del Golfo, which operates in illegal mining corridors around Zijin's mine, allegedly carried out the attack, the newspaper said, citing authorities.

Shares rose 1% in Hong Kong during afternoon trading on Friday.
