Tractor Supply said it has acquired the veterinary services provider VIP Petcare from Bansk Group's PetIQ in a deal with undisclosed financial terms.

The retailer for rural areas said Thursday that VIP Petcare is the largest provider of mobile veterinary care in the U.S. It operates clinics in about 2,700 retail locations, including 1,700 Tractor Supply, across 39 states.

Buying VIP Petcare will help Tractor Supply expand its portfolio veterinary services offerings, which already includes its walk-in PetVet Clinics, the company said.

"Tractor Supply has been our largest and most strategic retail partner for more than a decade, and the cultural and operational fit is exceptional," said Ari Macerollo, the head of veterinary services at VIP Petcare.
