China Economic Growth Expected to Slow Sequentially -- Market Talk
Dow Jones06-02
0843 GMT - China's economic growth is likely to slow sequentially in 2Q, according to UOB economist Ho Woei Chen. The latest PMIs indicate that China's manufacturing sector remains in expansion territory but is losing momentum, the economist says. This is likely due to softer external demand and Middle East-related cost pressures, she writes in a note. The data reinforced the slowdown evident in April's broader macro indicators, she says. UOB expects China's 2Q GDP growth to moderate to 4.7% on year from 5.0% in 1Q. (tracy.qu@wsj.com)
