Intercontinental Exchange Reports 14% Jump in May Trading Volume

Intercontinental Exchange's (ICE) May average daily trading volume, or ADV, rose 14% year over year, while open interest climbed 24%, the company said Wednesday.

Financials ADV increased 37% and open interest rose 56%, with interest-rate products posting a 38% increase in ADV and a 63% jump in open interest, it said.

In commodities, agriculture and metals ADV surged 60%, led by gains in cocoa, cotton, sugar and coffee trading, said Intercontinental Exchange.

Energy markets also remained strong, with Brent crude ADV rising 6% and total natural gas open interest increasing 10%, it added.

NYSE cash equities ADV increased 12%, while NYSE equity options ADV jumped 54% from a year earlier, the company said.
