Don't Bring Cloud Services Under EU's Digital Competition Rules, Amazon Says -- Market Talk

1543 GMT - Designating cloud software services as platforms that need to be regulated under the EU's Digital Markets Act risks stifling innovation and raising costs for European companies, Andrew DeVore, Amazon's vice president and associate general counsel, says in a blog post. The EU is currently investigating whether Amazon and Microsoft should be designated as EU gatekeepers under the law for their widely-used AWS and Azure cloud services. "The cloud sector is highly competitive and already regulated by European legislation specifically designed for it," he says (edith.hancock@wsj.com)
