Americans' Wallets Are Thinner, So PepsiCo Is Slimming Down Its Cans -- WSJ

Surging prices at the gas pump have consumers thinking twice about how much they're spending in the convenience store, supermarket, anywhere. Mike Del Pozzo, president of PepsiCo's U.S. beverages business, says one response is to shrink drink sizes.

A traditional 20-ounce soda sells for around $3, Del Pozzo says at the WSJ Global Food Forum. PepsiCo is now testing a 13-ounce bottle size, as well as mini cans. "One can might be $1.50," Del Pozzo says. "It'll get you to try a Poppi." The company is also looking at a Gatorade sold in a smaller-sized sports bottle, he says.
