0334 GMT - Makino Milling Machine may post record profits from this fiscal year, SMBC Nikko Securities' Satoshi Taninaka says in a research report. Drivers are a weaker yen, higher profitability from expansion of its five-axis machining center sales, and lower fixed and other costs, the analyst says. The Japanese machine toolmaker's solid earnings can also be attributed to factors including its high sales weighting to aerospace, where lead times are long and profitability is high, and its business model that doesn't entail holding large inventories at sales subsidiaries. The brokerage upgrades the stock's rating to outperform from neutral and raises the target price to 19,400 yen from 9,700 yen. Shares are 4.8% higher at 13,880 yen. (ronnie.harui@wsj.com)
