Teva Pharmaceutical Industries' (TEVA) Teva Pharmaceuticals unit said Friday that a real-world study shows AUSTEDO tablets and AUSTEDO XR tablets improved quality of life for Huntington's disease chorea patients and their caregivers.

Huntington's disease is a fatal neurodegenerative disease characterized by uncontrollable movements as well as behavioral and/or psychological problems, the company said, adding that chorea is one of the most striking physical manifestations of the disease and occurs in about 90% of patients.

The survey data found that more than 68% of patients reported chorea affected their social life or emotional well-being, while up to 83% of caregivers reported disruptions to their own daily lives, the company said.

After treatment with AUSTEDO or AUSTEDO XR, 60% to 71% of patients reported improvements in quality of life due to better movement control, and as a result, caregivers also reported less impact on their daily lives, the company added.

Shares of Teva Pharmaceutical Industries rose nearly 1.4% in Friday's trading.
