Market Chatter: Anthropic Engineers Embedded at NSA as Mythos AI Expands Security Role

MT Newswires Live06-05 19:01

Amazon.com (AMZN)-backed Anthropic is helping the US National Security Agency deploy its advanced Mythos AI model for cybersecurity applications, with half a dozen "forward-deployed engineers" assigned to support the technology, the Financial Times reported Thursday, citing unnamed sources.

It remains unclear whether the engineers are involved in active cyber operations, according to the report.

Mythos could be useful for penetrating networks in countries such as China and Iran, one person familiar with the arrangement told the FT.

The collaboration comes despite Anthropic's ongoing legal dispute with the Pentagon over restrictions on how its AI systems can be used in military and surveillance activities.

Anthropic and the US Defense Department did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
