Airbus Could Set Guidance for Commercial Aircraft Business -- Market Talk

Dow Jones06-05 17:33

0933 GMT - Airbus could take advantage of an investor update on July 21 to set midterm guidance for its commercial aircraft business, Bank of America's Benjamin Heelan writes in a note to clients. Most large-cap aerospace groups frame midterm earnings or cash flow opportunities through specific targets, Heelan says. "We think Airbus has sufficient visibility from its backlog and the gradual improvement in the supply chain to do the same, even if it avoids tying the framework to a fixed calendar year," he says. Assuming between 3 billion euros and 4 billion euros in research-and-development spend, Heelan says Airbus could target 10 billion euros in adjusted EBIT for its commercial aircraft business. Airbus shares trade 1.1% higher at 179 euros. (mauro.orru@wsj.com)
