Texas's Celsius Investigation Seen Not Leading to Much -- Market Talk

Dow Jones06-05

1707 ET - Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton's investigation of Celsius Holdings isn't likely to change the material story for the energy drink company, BNP Paribas analyst Kevin Grundy writes in a note. The investigation -- into whether the company's Alani Nu drinks were intentionally marketed toward children -- may generate headline risk, making parents more aware of their children's energy drink habits. But the energy drink industry has faced legal scrutiny over its caffeine content in the past and emerged relatively unscathed, he points out. "Very little ultimately came of these legal efforts and our base case is this time will be no different with the TX AG's probe," Grundy writes. Celsius closed down 7.5% at $27.75.
