Sonoco Products plans to hike prices on some of its paperboard products, citing in part higher costs due to inflation.
The paper products company said Monday it would raise the price for all grades of uncoated recycled paperboard in the U.S. and Canada by $60 per ton, effective with shipments beginning July 8.
Sonoco also plans to increase prices for all converted paperboard products--including paperboard tubes, cores, cones, partitions, protective packaging and other specialty products--by 7%, effective with shipments on and after July 8.
The company pointed to multiple factors, including elevated inflationary pressures which it said have ramped up costs. It also cited strong demand across its markets and utilization in its paper mill network.
"We remain committed to delivering reliable supply and high-quality products, and this increase helps ensure we can continue to support our customers' business effectively," said Taylor Lane, vice president and general manager of Sonoco's industrial paper packaging business in North America.
