Stocks to Watch: Marvell Technology, Broadcom, Strategy -- WSJ

Marvell Technology $(MRVL)$: Shares jumped premarket after S&P Dow Jones Indices said Friday that the chip maker will join the S&P 500 later this month. Flex $(FLEX)$, an electronics manufacturing firm, will also join. Flex shares also climbed.

Micron Technology $(MU)$, Nvidia (NVDA), Broadcom $(AVGO)$: Chip makers advanced modestly in premarket trading, suggesting the AI trade could stage a rebound Monday.

Devon Energy $(DVN)$, Occidental Petroleum $(OXY)$, Diamondback Energy (FANG): Shares of energy companies jumped premarket amid a nearly 5% rise in Brent crude futures. In contrast, airlines including United Airlines $(UAL)$ and Delta Air Lines $(DAL)$ slid on concerns of higher jet fuel prices.

Intesa Sanpaolo (IT:ISP): The Italian lender launched a $35.32 billion takeover bid for its domestic rival Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena (IT:BMPS), shortly after Banco BPM (IT:BAMI) made a competing merger proposal. Shares of Monte dei Paschi surged 10% in Milan, while Intesa's slid and BPM's ticked up.

Strategy (MSTR): Shares of the bitcoin-hoarding company jumped premarket, on pace to recover slightly after tumbling 24% last week. Bolstering the stock on Monday: Bitcoin, which rose after sliding below $60,000 in recent days.
