0606 GMT - AstraZeneca has released promising data for pipeline drugs outside its core oncology business that seem underrated by the market, Bernstein analysts say in a research note. Non-oncology drugs account for nearly two-thirds of Bernstein's estimate for the U.K. pharmaceutical company's sales growth over the next five years, the analysts say. Upcoming data for AstraZeneca's Wainua drug in a trial for transthyretin amyloid cardiomyopathy--a heart disease--and for experimental cholesterol treatment AZD0780 could be key, the analysts add. The company estimates annual peak sales for each drug to top $5 billion and Bernstein says the targets are credible. Moreover, a recent late-stage study of its tozorakimab drug candidate for smokers' cough seems to vindicate AstraZeneca's approach of developing potentially the best--rather than first--of its class of medicines, Bernstein notes.
