Market Chatter: Boeing Asked to Fix Aerial Refueling Tanker Vision-System Issue Before Additional US Air Force Order

MT Newswires Live06-09

Boeing (BA) was asked to fix an issue with the remote vision system of its KC-46 Pegasus aerial refueling tankers before the US Air Force proceeds with an additional order for 75 aircraft, Bloomberg reported Tuesday, citing a statement from the Air Force.

The issue causes "poor image quality and lack of depth perception under specific lighting conditions" that affects the visibility of the receiver aircraft, according to the report.

Boeing was expected to deliver an improved version of the system in 2023, but that timeline has slipped to 2028, Bloomberg reported, citing the Air Force.

The planned order for 75 new aircraft is in addition to 183 tankers already purchased, Bloomberg said.

Boeing and the US Air Force did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comments.
