FingerMotion Partners With BlueFlare to Build Distributed AI, Bitcoin Mining Edge Network

FingerMotion (FNGR) said Tuesday it has signed a memorandum of understanding with BlueFlare Energy Solutions to develop a distributed network of small-scale AI computing and energy sites across Western Canada.

The company said the plan focuses on building sites located at or near natural gas fields in Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan. These facilities would combine AI computing tasks and bitcoin mining.

FingerMotion said the approach is designed to lower costs by using local energy, reduce delays for AI processing, and speed up deployment compared with traditional large data centers.

The project would use BlueFlare's BALA platform, which can shift power between AI computing and bitcoin mining depending on demand, the company said.

The company said the first project, called PR1, will be built in Alberta and will repurpose existing 1-megawatt bitcoin mining infrastructure along with 120 Antminer S21 Pro units.

BlueFlare will supply natural gas power at a fixed rate of $0.03 per kilowatt-hour under a three-year agreement, it added.

FingerMotion said a second phase will add a 500-kilowatt modular AI computing facility next to the mining site, forming the first working edge AI node under the partnership.

The PR1 site is intended to serve as a prototype for a wider rollout across Western Canada, with additional sites under review, the company said, adding that expansion will depend on funding, regulatory approvals, and the success of the initial project.
