Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) Google is in talks with Samsung to make part of a next-generation tensor processing unit, The Information reported Thursday, citing two people with direct knowledge of the project.

The specialized AI chip, which Google uses in its cloud data centers and is code-named Icefish, is currently expected to be Google's 10th-generation TPU, the report said, citing the people.

Google and Samsung didn't immediately reply to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
