BOE's Pill And Greene Could Vote For a Rate Hike at Next Week's Meeting -- Market Talk

Dow Jones06-11 18:16

1016 GMT - The Bank of England monetary policy committee members Huw Pill and Megan Greene could vote in favor of a quarter-point interest rate rise at the June 18 policy meeting, Oxford Economics' Edward Allenby says in a note. Both Pill and Greene have expressed concerns about the risk of second-round effects of inflation as energy prices remain elevated. However, most MPC members are expected to favor keeping interest rates unchanged at 3.75%, Allenby says. Investors price in an 88% chance of the BOE keeping interest rates on hold during the rate decision next week, LSEG data show. (miriam.mukuru@wsj.com)
