Employers plan to drop insurance coverage of GLP-1 drugs for weight loss next year as more workers use the medications, Reuters reported Thursday, citing industry surveys.
The trend comes despite lowered costs for Novo Nordisk's (NVO) Wegovy and Eli Lilly's (LLY), Zepbound and Foundayo, the report said.
Reuters said that about 10% of employers whose insurance policies currently cover GLP-1 drugs for weight-loss said they planned to drop the drugs next year, citing a survey by the Business Group on Health.
Another survey by Mercer said 5% of large employers of over 500 people plan to drop coverage of the drugs next year, the report said.
