Meta Platforms (META) acquired Rivos last year to help it accelerate its development of in-house chips, but integration issues and shifts in strategy have hindered the tech giant's ability to use the startup's technology, The Information reported Friday, citing 11 current and former employees who have worked on the chip efforts.
Tensions have also emerged between Rivos workers and Meta's existing chips team, and Meta has laid off over a quarter of the 450 Rivos staffers who had just joined, the report said, citing several of the people who have worked on the chip project.
Meta did not immediately reply to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
