Meta Platforms' suite of social-media platforms, including Facebook and Instagram, experienced mass outages Friday morning, users reported.
Downdetector, a outage tracking site, showed a surge in problem reports for Facebook, Facebook Messenger, Instagram, and WhatsApp beginning just before 9:30 a.m. Eastern time. Meta itself also reported high disruptions on Facebook Ads Manager, an advertising platform for enterprise customers.
"We're aware people are currently having trouble accessing our services, " Meta spokesperson Andy Stone confirmed in a social media post. "We're working on it."
Meta stock, which opened higher Friday, swung to a slight loss and was down 0.8% in mid-morning trading.
