Albany International (AIN) on Thursday reported progress in its project with Sweden's Cyclezyme AB to develop enzyme-based recycling of polyester and nylon industrial textiles.
Cyclezyme has successfully depolymerized material samples, produced nylon-degrading enzymes, and is optimizing degradation efficiency, the company said.
The partners have begun discussions on scaling the technology for industrial applications, with demand expected to rise amid stricter sustainability requirements, the company added.
