The iShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) climbed 2.9%.
In corporate news, Adial Pharmaceuticals (ADIL) shares surged 41% after it said Thursday it has acquired Azora Therapeutics, a biopharmaceutical company developing treatments for serious inflammatory diseases.
