Casey's General Stores Points to Demand for Energy Drinks -- Market Talk

Dow Jones06-11

1249 ET - Casey's General Stores is the latest company to reap the benefits of surging demand for energy drinks, citing the trend as a key driver of strong non-alcoholic beverage sales in its latest quarter. Energy drinks also tend to have high-margins than other offerings in that category, the convenience store chain says during a call with analysts. Additionally, a partnership with Monster Beverage on a red, white and blue flavor, which sold almost exclusively at Casey's from late January to early May, "resonated extremely well with guests and was a top seller in the energy category throughout the quarter," Chief Executive Darren Rebelez says during a call with analysts.(kelly.cloonan@wsj.com)
