Alphabet's Waymo Acquires Former Apple Autonomous Vehicle Test Site in Arizona

Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) Waymo subsidiary has acquired a 5,500-acre autonomous vehicle testing facility in Arizona from Route 14 investment partners, an entity associated with Apple, according to property records and media reports.

Waymo paid about $220 million for the site near Wittmann, Arizona, according to documents filed with Maricopa County.

The property was previously used by Apple for its self-driving car initiative and includes test infrastructure such as a city driving course, freeway circuit, vehicle dynamics area, and high-speed track, according to media reports.
