Cineplex posted higher box-office revenue in May as a strong slate of releases drew moviegoers back to the theaters.

The Canadian movie-theater chain said Tuesday that box-office revenue May rose to 60.5 million Canadian dollars (US$43.4 million), up from C$55.3 million in May of 2025.

Among the top-performing films in the month were The Devil Wears Prada 2; Michael, which was first released in April; Obsession; Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu; and Backrooms.

The month's performance has brought Cineplex's second-quarter box-office revenue to date to about C$120.5 million, up from C$106.7 million at this time last year, the company said.

Cineplex said May also saw the company's highest monthly concession spend per patron on record, though it didn't disclose the figures.
