American depositary receipts of EHang Holdings slipped after the maker of electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft reported first-quarter revenue below Wall Street's expectations.

The ADRs closed 23% lower, at $6.68, Tuesday and hit a 52-week low of $6.50 earlier in the day.

EHang reported revenue of 25.7 million yuan ($3.8 million) for the first quarter, far below the CNY61.2 million expected by analysts polled by FactSet.

The Chinese company reported a net loss of CNY126 million yuan, or CNY1.66 an ADS, for the quarter, compared with a loss of CNY78.1 million, or CNY1.08 an ADS, a year earlier.

The company backed its previous fiscal-year sales guidance of CNY600 million, ahead of the CNY587.5 million expected by analysts.
